All information will be held in the strictest of confidence. Feel free to contact Caroline, the camp director, at email@example.com if you have any questions.
Staff will arrive on the day before the start of camp. For the safety of our campers and staff, the location of our camp is released only to accepted staff. To give you a general idea, CQSM is held in the Smoky Mountains National Park near Knoxville, TN.
Please note that in order to be a staff member, you must be over the age of 18. All staff positions are unpaid. Staff members must also arrange for their own transportation to and from the camp site or a nearby airport. Once at camp, staff will be provided with a full week of lodging, meals, and fun for free! Being ‘unplugged’ and present during our camp week is very important to us. There is no cell service at camp and very limited wifi; volunteers are required to stay on site for the duration of the week barring extenuating circumstances approved by the Camp Director.
Volunteer staff are required to attend a day long staff training the day prior to the first day of camp (Saturday, July 29)
During camp, staff will be required to participate in camp activities from approximately 8am to 11pm and all staff are responsible for camper supervision 24/7. Volunteer staff will have the opportunities to take on-site and scheduled breaks, as approved by the camp director.
All staff must be 18 years of age by the first day of camp.
Counselors spend each day with their campers, from wake up to lights out. In this critical role, counselors have a powerful opportunity to build close relationships with awesome kids, and are responsible for the overall well-being of their campers. In their role, counselors function as a mentor and surrogate parent for the week, responsible for everything from getting campers to activities and daily hygiene, to conflict management and group bonding. While being a counselor can be grueling, counselors who return year after year claim Camp Quest to be the most rewarding week of their life.
